Ballstad is a Norwegian supplement brand named after a fishing village in the Lofoten Islands, north of the Arctic Circle. It sells two things: omega-3 fish oil capsules and a salmon collagen powder. Its pitch is Norwegian production, published certifications and a short ingredient list.

The omega-3 capsules

According to the product page, one daily serving is three small capsules, taken with a glass of water at any time of day, and a one-month pack contains 93 capsules. The brand states that a daily serving provides 1,050 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, made up of 540 mg EPA, 390 mg DHA and 120 mg DPA. It describes the oil as being in triglyceride form with a single ingredient and no additives or fillers, and says production runs from raw material to packaging in Norway.

The salmon collagen

The collagen is a powder made from hydrolyzed Type I collagen peptides derived from salmon skin. The brand states a daily serving is 5 grams, that a monthly pack holds 160 grams, and that the powder is neutral-tasting and can be stirred into food or a drink. The first order includes a reusable jar and a measuring spoon.

Ballstad's marketing and product pages make a range of wellness claims about both products. We have left those out here. Evidence on supplements varies by person and by product, so read the label and the brand's own references, and ask a health professional whether either product suits you.

Certifications the brand lists

  • Informed Sport: the brand says its products are certified, with each certified batch independently tested for substances prohibited in sport before release
  • Friend of the Sea: the brand says its fish oil comes from fisheries certified under this sustainability scheme
  • Made in Norway: the brand says it carries the official label
  • Quality standards: the site says its specifications meet or exceed European Pharmacopoeia, USP, Codex Alimentarius, GOED and IFOS standards

These are the brand's statements, and we have not checked them against the certifiers' own databases. If a certification matters to you, such as Informed Sport for competitive athletes, confirm the specific product and batch with the certifier.

How ordering works

Product pages default to a monthly subscription, with a starter pack that includes the storage container followed by monthly refill packs. A one-time purchase is available as well. The subscription auto-renews, and the brand says it can be paused, skipped or cancelled at any time from the link in your order confirmation email. Check which option is selected before you pay, and note the renewal date.

Shipping and returns

For international orders, the brand says it ships with DHL Express on a delivered-duty-paid basis, so import taxes and duties are included in the price, with an estimated 3 to 7 working days. Shipping charges vary by country and order weight, with free shipping above a threshold that depends on your zone. Prices on the store appear in Norwegian kroner by default, so check the total in your own currency at checkout.

The refund policy offers a 30-day window from receipt. You pay return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect, original outbound shipping on international orders is non-refundable, and the policy notes that opened food supplements may be refused. Read it before you open anything you are unsure about.

  • Best for: shoppers who want omega-3 or collagen from a single Norwegian brand with published serving details and certifications
  • Check first: the full ingredient list, your own dietary needs and any advice from your doctor
  • Watch for: the subscription default and auto-renewal, and the returns rules for opened products
“With supplements, the serving size and the certifications on the label matter more than the claims on the front.”

Our takeaway

Ballstad is clear about where its products are made, what a serving contains and which certifications it holds, which makes comparison easier than with many supplement brands. Because we have not tried the products, treat the benefits and certifications as the brand's own claims, check how the order is set up before paying, and talk to a health professional if you are unsure whether either product is right for you.
